Business North - Business News Source

Co-Publishers Beth Bily and Ron Brochu

Since 1992, BusinessNorth has been the region's authority in business news. Founded by Wayne Nelson, it was purchased on April 1, 2010, by long-time area journalists Beth Bily and Ron Brochu.

The paper covers business news across 17 counties in Northern Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin. Its "beat" is a $10 billion economy that supports 450,000 people.

BusinessNorth has led the region's discovery of business news and has built connections among the businesses and industries in its coverage area. The paper has been praised for its balanced coverage of both large and small businesses and its knack for spotting trends.

BusinessNorth delivers 7,000 copies each month and reaches more than 21,000 readers each month. The company also publishes an Annual Directory of Business and Industry. This must-read publication is a comprehensive look at the region's economy with 30 economic sectors ranked by revenues, workforce or profitability. The new online edition, BusinessNorth.com, is a creative partnership of radio, online and print publications, bringing daily news sources together in one easy-to-use site.

About the Publishers

Beth Bily of Grand Rapids served as editor of the Grand Rapids Herald-Review from 2002-2006 and has worked as a freelance writer and editor for several regional newspapers and other publications. She was a full-time BusinessNorth reporter prior to becoming co-owner.

Duluth native Ron Brochu worked in a marketing capacity at Jeno’s Inc., edited trade journals at Harcourt, Brace Jovanovich, served as city editor at the Duluth News Tribune and was executive editor of the Superior Daily Telegram before joining Beth Bily as BusinessNorth co-owner.
